  • Darkside Insane Asylum Dates and hours of operation for 2007: October 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27, 31 7-10pm October 30th is a "low-scare night" for the kids. Admission is $5 ($2 off coupon not valid). 6:30-8:30pm. Address: 11835 NC HWY 222 W Middlesex, NC
  • Halloween Safety Tips: the CPSC offers tips for Halloween safety.
  • Silent Forest haunted house offers training for high school drama students, gives back to schools.
  • Chapel Hill's annual festival takes place from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
  • Town of Cary Haunted House -- For younger boys and ghouls should come between 5 to 6:30 p.m. for scary games, stories and refreshments. Older guests are invited for bone-chilling terror tours from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is $1 at the door. For more information, call (919) 469-4061.
  • The Hall of Terror features both scary attractions and a not-so-scary free Halloween Zone for children eight and under. Admission is $10 per person or a $13 combo pass,w hich includes the Hall of Terror and one Adventure Landing activity. Open at 7 p.m. Oct. 25-31.
  • Durham Jaycees Haunted House. The annual haunted house is at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Tickets are $7.
  • Asylum 307 Haunted House. 307 E. Broad St. Fuquay-Varina. Hours: 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Oct. 26-31. Tickets: $7 at door.
  • Howl-O-Ween. Camp Bow Wow. 1710 Page Road, Durham. Games for kids and dogs, raffle prizes, contests.
  • Haunted House. 2000 Lawrence Drive, Raleigh Hours: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 31.
  • Fall Festival Halloween Alternative. Calvary Chapel. 1600 Center St., Apex. Hours: 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 31. Festival offers pumpkin carving, carnival games, food, live music and candy.
