RALEIGH, N.C. -- Former Rep. Thomas Wright is back in court, three months after being sent to prison for fraud.

Wright appeared in Wake County Superior Court on Monday on a felony obstruction of justice charge. The judge scheduled trial for Aug. 25.

The former Wilmington Democrat didn't speak during the short hearing. He stood next to his attorney, wearing an orange and white striped prison suit.

Investigators say Wright failed to report thousands in campaign contributions, which is a violation of North Carolina's campaign finance laws. He has denied any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty.

Wright was sentenced to a minimum of almost 6 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of three felony fraud charges in April. He was convicted of mishandling charitable contributions and fraudulently obtaining a $150,000 lend.
