Developers are creating a 21-acrea neighborhood that will offer upscale homes, condos and retail space at mixed income prices.
Raleigh council member Thomas Crowder looks forward to more families moving downtown.
"We need to provide choices for all our citizens and especially downtown,” Crowder said. “We have a lot of the high rise condos that have been going up, but we need to provide all types of housing choices and prices."
New homes and condos will range from $200,000 to $400,000
Dozens of historic homes used for state offices were also bought.
