Triangle Group Raises $200K For China Earthquake Relief

CARY, N.C. -- The Chinese-American Friendship Association in the Triangle Area (CAFA), together with 13 other local Chinese-American organizations, has raised more than $200,000 since the deadly quake wrecked southwestern China on May 12.

Members of the group wired the money Wednesday to the Red Cross Society of China in Beijing to aid the relief efforts in Sichuan, the center of the devastating quake.
The magnitude 7.9 earthquake has killed more than 80,000, in addition to injuring many more and leaving thousands homeless.
The group hopes the money will be used buy more tents or foods for millions of survivors who need food and lodge desperately.The group plans to continue its donation campaign and has scheduled a community Show Our Love event to be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Westwood Baptist Church, 200 Westhigh Street in Cary.
