Authorities say Jerry Wayne Yellorday was shot as he sat in a vehicle outside his Roanoke Rapids home April 3 by two men who stepped out of a different car and began firing shotguns.

Sheriff's Maj. Bruce Temple told the Daily and Sunday Herald of Roanoke Rapids that 18-year-old Trayvon Purnell was arrested Friday at his home and charged with murder.

Temple says murder warrants have also been issued for 28-year-old Charles Hockaday and his brother, 25-year-old Damien Mitchell.

Temple refused to talk about a motive for the killing. A person contacted at the jail Monday afternoon declined to comment about the case.
