CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Some students at the University of North Carolina began a sit-in protest over the factories where school-licensed apparel is made.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reports that about 15 students participated Thursday in the protest, being held in the rotunda of the South Building on the Chapel Hill campus, near Chancellor James Moeser's office.

Six students were arrested last week at Appalachian State University in a similar protest. They were charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing.

The university said it works with two groups that monitor labor conditions in factories where UNC-licensed products are made.

The students say their proposal would ensure that the workers who make the apparel earn a living wage. Moeser rejected their proposal in August.
