GRANVILLE COUNTY, N.C.— A police chase ended tragically when the vehicle driven by suspect Guy Ayscue, 38, crossed the center line of U.S. 15 Saturday afternoon.

According to police, Ayscue was driving a 1988 Pontiac when he crossed the center line of U.S. 15 and hit another vehicle, killing sisters Linsay Erin Lunsford, 18, and Maggie Rose Lunsford, 9.

 

According to officials from the Granville County Sheriff’s Office, a Franklinton police officer was chasing Ayscue’s vehicle, first on N.C. 56 and then northbound on U.S. 15.  Police said Ayscue had an extensive criminal history.

 

Officials are uncertain as to why the police officer was chasing Ayscue.
