MORRISVILLE, N.C. -- Half of Morrisville's Town Hall is all boxed up, ready to move down the street.

That's good news for some departments that have crammed as many as three people into the same small office spaces for the last few years.

The new space will be in a 19,000 square foot building on the same piece of property as the Morrisville Chamber of Commerce, and some offices have already started moving in.

Town officials say they're already looking forward to some of the opportunities the building will provide.

"One of the nice features of this building is we never had a room dedicated to employee training, so now we have an area for that," said Tony Chiotakis, Morrisville's Director of Community Services.

Along with Planning, Zoning and Engineering offices, the new space will be home to the administrative offices of both the Fire and Police Departments.

Police investigators will have brand new evidence and interrogation rooms to work with, as well.

The property and building cost just under $4 million, and the town is spending another $900,000 on renovations and furnishing.

Voters approved the purchase with a bond referendum several years ago.
