Chad Sokol

Originally from Dayton, Ohio, Chad Sokol has been working in local news for the past nine years. He started his career in 1997 as the weekend sports anchor for the NBC affiliate in Hagerstown, Md. Chad worked in Hagerstown for close to a year and then got his second job doing sports in Fort Myers, Florida. He was in southwest Florida for just over four years before joining NBC17 in October 2002.

Chad's most memorable moment in the business was covering the Carolina Hurricanes during their Stanley Cup Championship season in 2005-06. He went to all 25 playoff games and co-hosted a number of specials during the Canes playoff run. Chad has also covered other major events such as the World Series, NBA playoffs, the NCAA Tournament and two Super Bowls. He has also done behind-the-scenes reports with some of NBC's hit shows, including Law and Order, Ed, Third Watch and Fear Factor.

Other fun moments in Chad’s career include taking batting practice with the Durham Bulls and riding nine holes of golf with Jack Nicklaus.

Chad's favorite sports teams include the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Browns, Ohio State football and Dayton Flyers basketball. In his spare time, Chad enjoys watching sports, going to the beach, playing golf, basketball and tennis.
