Candice joined the NBC 17 News Team in Oct. 2007, and is charged with reporting the stories that matter to those living in Johnston County.
The University of Tennessee graduate has been a journalist for almost a decade, covering stories for broadcast, print and multi-media.
Candice recently worked as an Interactive Media Managing Editor and Reporter for TriCities.com, WJHL News Channel 11, and the Bristol Herald Courier, in a Tri-State region for Media General's second-largest convergence market.
For five years prior to pursuing her graduate degree, she worked as an Investigative and Crime Reporter for the Chattanooga Times Free Press, an 85,000-circulation daily. Before that, she was an assistant city editor and crime reporter with the Midland Daily News.
Throughout her career, Candice has covered almost every beat obtainable--from city, county and state government to crime, education, health, sports, and features.
As a journalist she has had the opportunity to change the lives of others, while having hers changed as well. Candice marvels at the idea of being paid to do what she loves, where every fast-paced day is filled with new challenges.
The self-proclaimed "news junkie" has won several awards from Hearst Publishing Inc., the Associated Press and the Tennessee Press Association for her coverage of national news stories including the Tri-State Crematory and the Virginia Tech shootings, one of the worst domestic massacres in U.S. history. She also has won an I-Prize and D. Tennant Bryan award.
Candice currently lives in Johnston County, North Carolina.
